Electronic discussion group for magazine researchers: 2008
On behalf of client FIPP (International Federation of the Periodical Press), Guy Consterdine has set up in March 2008 an electronic discussion group for researchers in magazine publishing around the world. The aim is to build up an international online community which can discuss any research issues of relevance to magazine publishers.
Membership of the electronic discussion group (or ‘egroup’) is free, but is only open to individuals in magazines or magazine associations or consultancies who have a research responsibility.
Discussion can cover any relevant topic, including:
- Asking other group members for information or advice about research matters.
- Sharing newly published research, and welcoming the group’s reactions and debate about a new study.
- Other business topics which research managers face (e.g. aspects of running a research department)
- FIPP’s own business, such as the Research Forum, issues arising from Research Committee meetings, the website, etc.
The intention is to link people from around the world who have a common interest – and who in certain respects have more in common with their equivalents in other publishers or countries than with their own non-research colleagues at neighbouring desks. The community will share knowledge and information, and accelerate constructive research developments.
The egroup is hosted by Yahoo, who already host many hundreds of groups. The egroup is moderated by Guy Consterdine, FIPP’s Research Consultant.
To join, email Guy at guy@consterdine.com, stating your name, job function, company, postal address, telephone number, and email address. Guy will then send details about registration – provided the applicant is eligible, i.e. works in a magazine publisher / association / consultancy, with a research responsibility.
